Apple's supplier companies have begun producing and assembling a long-rumored smaller-screen tablet than the 9.7-inch current iPad, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal on Wednesday. The report states the new product's screen size will be 7.85 inches diagonally, putting it in direct competition with similarly sized and low-priced offerings from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Google.
