Democrats as a whole are pretty thrilled with the House Republican decision to pass a second version of Rep. Paul Ryan's (R-WI) budget plan. But progressive candidates -- seeking to draw a clear distinction with their GOP opponents and generally be known as the group standing in the way of cuts to entitlement programs -- are perhaps the most excited Democrats of all.
Progressives have said again and again that a fight over entitelments is the best way they can think of to energize the base as well as recruit new voters.
