Since Google launched its new technology talks series "Solve For X" on Monday night, many bloggers caught more than a whiff of the popular TED (Technology Entertainment & Design) talks series. Now TED, going on its 16th year, has issued the following statement to TPM in response to Google's shiny new talks series:
We absolutely applaud Google's new "Solve for X" series. As a non-profit whose mission is dedicated to “ideas worth spreading,” we support any effort that shares smart thinking and new solutions.
A TED spokesperson also told TPM wasn't involved in the development of the series, but is happy with its continuing relationship with Google. Indeed, several notable Google employees, including co-founder and CEO Larry Page, have given TED talks, and Google celebrated TED's 10th anniversary in 2006 by announcing it would offer a number of TED talks on Google Video.
