Mitt Romney uses an anecdote from Bob Woodward's new book in order to suggest that President Obama in unable to lead his own party in a new ad released Sunday. In "The Price of Politics," Woodward writes that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi pressed mute while on a conference call with President Obama in order to continue her own discussion with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid while the president was talking. The new ad seizes on this story.
“And as President Obama spoke, Nancy Pelosi hit the mute button," a narrator says in the ad. “Went on with their meeting, ignoring the President. Not even listening to what he had to say.”
“If he cannot lead his own party, how can he lead America?" the narrator says at the end.
Pelosi has denied the story, saying earlier this month that "I clear the room and I take notes and we have a conversation" when talking to the president.
