A new national poll illustrates why President Obama's campaign has put so many resources into attacks on presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney's career as CEO of Bain Capital, a private equity firm. Forty percent of voters polled by Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling said they were less likely to vote for Romney because of his work there, while 17 percent said they were more likey and 40 percent said it didn't make a difference.
The poll also shows voters view Swiss bank accounts in a negative light: 48 percent say they have a unfavorable view of them, while 21 percent have a favorable one and 31 percent are unsure. Romney has been hammered by opponents over reports that he has taken advantage of the tax code, including using offshore bank accounts to shelter assets from taxation. Romney thus far has only released two years of tax returns, and has said he's not "enthusiastic" to release more.
The poll was sponsored by Daily Kos and the SEIU.
