Part Of Nuclear Power Plant Shuts Down Due To Sandy

A unit at Indian Point, a nuclear power pant 45 miles north of New York City, was shut down late Monday night due to superstore Sandy, reports the Washington Post. A second power plant in New Jersey, Oyster Creek, was put on alert due to high water levels from Sandy.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission says conditions at both plants remain safe.
