President Obama was notified of the shooting at the Family Research Council buildling today at 1:18 p.m. ET, according to White House Press Secretary Jay Carney.

Obama expressed concern for a security guard that suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, professing his belief that "this type of violence has no place in our society," per a pool report.
