More than 500 people were injured Friday after a meteorite exploded in the sky above central Russia, Reuters reported.
According to the Russian Academy of Sciences, the meteorite weighed about 10 tons and entered the Earth's atmosphere at about 33,000 miles per hour. It blew up at between 18 and 32 miles above ground, the Associated Press reported.

Russia's Emergencies Ministry said 514 people had sought medical help, mainly for light injuries caused by flying glass, and that 112 of those were kept in hospital. Search groups were set up to look for the remains of the meteorite.
No deaths have been reported.
