Democratic Senate candidate Heidi Heitkamp has successfully pressured the conservative group Crossroads GPS to take down a false ad, according to the Associated Press.

The ad claimed that when Heitkamp was North Dakota's attorney general in the 1990s, she used taxpayer money for private planes. In fact, as a Heitkamp ad rebutted, the two aircraft in question were surplus planes provided for free by the U.S. Department of Defense, and were used for drug enforcement.
