Google Launches Indoor Maps For Web

Google has since November 2011 offered to Android smartphone users the ability through Google Maps to see indoor floor plans of selected large, cavernous buildings the world over. Now, one year later, Google is bringing that ability to all web users via Google Maps. As Google announced on Wednesday, indoor floor plans of over 10,000 buildings can now be accessed by simply zooming in on participating buildings on Google Maps.

Here's what the indoor floor plan map of the American Museum of Natural History in New York City looks like (screenshot):

Android users still have an advantage over Web users when it comes to this feature, though, because as Google notes, only the main level floor plan of buildings is available on the Web for now.
