The Jeff Flake campaign is pushing ahead with its attack in the Arizona Senate campaign race, in which it has run an ad resurfacing past allegations of anger-management issues against Democratic nominee Richard Carmona.
The Flake campaign released a statement Friday from Arthur Lawrence, a former career official at the Department of Health and Human Services, in which Lawrence stands by the honesty of Dr. Cristina Beato, the woman making the accusation against Carmona: “As a member of a refugee Cuban family, Cristi carries with her a unique appreciation and personal knowledge of the importance of honesty, integrity, and forthrightness, characteristics which she practices herself in all that I have observed.”
Carmona's campaign now has their own ad featuring retired Capt. Kathleen Brennan, who served as Carmona's SWAT commander in the Pima County, Ariz. sheriff's department: "Rich treats everyone with respect. It doesn't matter whether you're male or female."
