Facebook on Tuesday announced the expansion of its physical gifts exchange, "Facebook Gifts," to all users in the U.S. The social networking giant also added a whole new category to the goods that users can choose to purchase for their Friends: Wine, which so far includes at least 13 different options, from the "Exquisite Pinot Noir" of David Family Wines to "Sustainable Wines" from Clark-Claudon Vineyards (screenshot sample below):
There are of course, some restrictions on the purchases. Facebook's terms note that "You MUST be over the age of 21 to send and receive this product" and wine shipments are restricted to certain states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, The District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, and Washington in the case of the Clark-Claudon Sauvignon Blanc, for instance.
The move follows on Amazon's own debut of wine shipments in early November.
Unfortunately, Facebook does not appear to allow users to ship themselves wine at this time (screenshot below):
