An adviser to Chris Christie on Monday night denied an earlier Huffington Post report that the New Jersey governor declined an invitation by Mitt Romney's campaign to appear at a rally together in Pennsylvania on Saturday night, per CNN, saying no one had gotten in touch:

Asked if the Romney campaign extended the invitation, longtime Christie confidante Bill Palatucci answered with a simple "No."

"You can't tell me he couldn't have gone over there for a night rally," a Romney campaign insider told the Huffington Post.

"They knew better than to ask given the situation here," Palatucci told CNN.
