Ron Paul: I Think I’ll Get Second Place In Nevada

Ron Paul was interviewed Saturday evening on CNN regarding the Nevada caucuses. Paul was himself not in Nevada, however — where Mitt Romney appears on track for a very strong win — but in Minnesota, which has its caucuses this Tuesday.

“I think we’ll end up coming in second, though it’s still early to make any declarations,” Paul said. He also said that he had heard information that he would perform well, “but we have to be a little patient and find out what the final number is later this evening.”

Wolf Blitzer asked Paul whether he thought there was an effect from the larger proportion of Republican voters in Nevada who are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, the same religion as Mitt Romney.

“Yeah I think so,” said Paul. “But I think everybody does recognize the Mormon vote is very significant, and he picks up a lot of votes there with a good turnout, and that’ll help, too.”
